Former opening batter Virender Sehwag has shared a beautiful message, congratulating for his outstanding Test career, following the latter's retirement from the format on Monday, May 12.
Notably, Kohli took to Instagram and shared a social media post officiating his announcement to step down from red-ball format with immediate effect after several reports claiming the same were in circulation over the weekend. Sehwag, who also hails from Delhi, shared a brotherly message for his India and Delhi teammate Virat for his exemplary and second-to-none Test career.
"The brat from my city - Delhi. When I saw you in childhood, I knew you are meant to achieve big things, but you have actually exceeded my imagination and how," Sehwag told Virat via Cricbuzz.
"Cheeku yaar, I have a few heartily words for you today - The amount of dedication you've given to Test cricket, the benefits will be reaped by several generations to come. I am sad that you didn't complete 10,000 runs, but this is a proof that you do everything on your own. People forget the numbers, but remember the memories. Your achievements as captain are unforgettable, and no one will ever be able to achieve that. Winning in South Africa, Australia, and those 60 overs of hell in England. My cheeku, I have only one heart, how many times will you keep winning it over? All the best for your future," he added.
Talking about Sehwag and Kohli, the Delhi-based duo have dominated the respective era they have played in. While the senior batter has 8586 runs from 104 Tests at a superlative average of 49.34 for India, the 36-year-old has 9230 runs at 46.85 in 123 games. Virat, who has 30 centuries, is ahead as enjoys 23 hundreds against his name. Both have retired as cherished gems of Indian cricket, and will be highly revered by fans forever.
