NEW DELHI: The Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF ) on Thursday raised concerns over repeated lapses in security protocol by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his foreign trips, warning that such breaches could expose him to serious risks.
In o letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, CRPF flagged concerns over his security practices. The force said that despite enjoying Z+ cover with an Advance Security Liaison (ASL) team, Gandhi has skipped mandatory protective measures on several occasions.
The Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) sent a separate letter to Gandhi, saying his lapses are a serious concern for his safety.
Officials told news agency ANI that the letter described the issue as a serious concern and urged Rahul Gandhi to follow the guidelines in the future. CRPF noted that any violation of established procedures weakens the effectiveness of VVIP security arrangements.
The letter cited Gandhi’s trips abroad, mentioning destinations such as Italy, Vietnam, Dubai, Qatar, London and Malaysia. It noted that the opposition leader frequently travels overseas for both personal and political reasons.
Under the “Yellow Book” protocol, high-security protectees are required to inform their security wing in advance about all movements, including foreign tours, so that adequate arrangements can be made. Officials alleged that Gandhi has not consistently followed this procedure.
