SRINAGAR: Ladakh has begun final preparations for the Dalai Lama’s arrival in Leh on July 12, where the 89-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader is scheduled to stay for a month. According to Ladakh Buddhist Association , he will rest and acclimatise for a few days before beginning public engagements, including a visit to Zanskar.
Top Ladakh officials reviewed logistics and security. The Dalai Lama will be provided Z-plus security cover throughout his stay and a medical team at venues, officials said.
Chief secretary Pawan Kotwal called for “highest standards of protocol and safety” as the Dalai Lama’s visit is expected to draw large crowds from across Ladakh and beyond.
