There's been a huge shakeup in robot vacuums lately, with early leaders like iRobot and Roborock facing challenges from new brands, like Shark and Eufy.
Robot vacuum cleaners have become more and more talented, moving on from just pushing dust around your home to using smarter cleaner, with more dynamic cleaning tools, self-emptying dust bins and mopping features.
The Eufy Omni C20 is one such technological marvel, offering a full range of cleaning functions, including vacuuming, mopping, drying - with emptying and refilling via the docking station.
There's also a massive £220 discount on this multi-tasking master, with Amazon offering it for £379, down from £599.
Amazon is selling it as an early Prime Day deal, but that price is also available from Eufy direct for a limited period - there's only 2 days left to buy with that discount.
One of the key parts to the Omni C20 is the combination of vacuuming and mopping, meaning that if you've got hard floors, you can do both cleaning jobs. Don't worry about it trying to mop carpets or rugs, because it will detect those and lift the mop so they don't get wet.
The slim body allows it to get under furniture, while there's anti-tangle tech on the brushes to make sure it doesn't get wrapped in hair.
Eufy isn't the only option if you're looking for a versatile robot vacuum cleaner, the Roborock Q5 Pro+ is discounted to £249.99 on Amazon, also offering vacuuming and mopping, but not with the same power the Eufy offers.
If you don't want the mopping function, then it's worth considering an alternative, like the Eufy L60, which is also discounted to £159.99 saving £90 on Amazon. Elsewhere, Shark also makes a robot vacuum, the PowerDetect Self-Empty Robot, though that's more expensive at £499.99.
The Eufy Omni C20 has racked up over 4600 reviews on Amazon, with an average rating of 4.4. Customers praise its cleaning ability both for hard floors and carpets. "It is perfect to keep on top of cleaning," says one happy shopper, while another comments "I'm a recent Eufy convert and have been so impressed with their robotics thus far."
Some customers, however, don't like that the Eufy robot returns to the base to wet the mop every 10 minutes: "It takes forever to clean the downstairs as it keeps going to wash the mop every 10-12 minutes," while another says "This vacuum spreads debris all over the house, the mopping function is very weak, and when emptying the dust bag, it throws trash everywhere."
I've used a Roborock vacuum for a couple of years and have found it really useful for staying on top of daily cleaning - especially when it comes to animals. With the cat and dog spreading grass and leaves through the house during summer, the robot vacuum has no problem cleaning things up to save me constantly having to sweep up.
One of the best parts of owning a robot vacuum is compatibility with other systems, like Alexa. Once connected to Alexa via the app, you'll be able to trigger cleaning with your voice, so you can start it when you leave home and return to a house that's been refreshed.
These Early Prime Day deals will only run for a few more days, before Prime Day starts properly.
