Marvel Rivals adds Marvel Zombies mode with new update but it's bad news for PS4 owners

Marvel Rivals developer NetEase is getting into the Halloween spirit by launching a brand new limited time game mode that's completely free to play.

Marvel Zombies is a new player-vs-enemy game mode in which characters team up to take on the Queen of the Dead and her army of zombies. The PvE mode is playable from October 23 until November 14, meaning there's plenty of time to experience the co-op action.

As you can see from the trailer further down the page, playable characters have enhanced abilities, while various Blessings can be equipped to improve stats and passives between rounds. Perfect for Halloween, the mode also features multiple levels of difficulty.

Unfortunately, however, it's not all good news, especially if you're a PS4 user, because the game mode won't be playable on last-gen hardware. According to NetEase, the lack of PS4 support is due to hardware limitations.

In addition to Marvel Zombies, the latest update adds the new Voyage to Astonish event, which gives players the chance to unlock the Blade Knight costume for free. The event also contains other rewards such as the Peni Parker Floral Frights Costume!

Speaking of rewards, fans can also grab the free Pumpkin Curse emote from now until November 1.

Needless to say, the latest update also coincides with the release of new shop items, including the Jeff the Land Shark 'Jeff O'Lantern Bundle'.

• Daredevil's Dual Dilemma: Resolved a bug where using both "Devil's Latch" and "Objection!" in quick succession could lead to unexpected performance issues. Now, he'll keep his moves sharp and his senses keen. No more double trouble for the Man Without Fear!
