Princess Kate and Prince William will "be happy" if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's two children come to the UK, a royal insider has said. The Prince and Princess of Wales are uncle and aunt to Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, however they have seen very little of them.
After Harry and Meghan quit royal life in 2020, they relocated to America, putting physical distance between the families. They also made a series of damaging comments and accusations about the Royal Family, which has led to an ongoing rift between brothers Harry and William.
While Prince William, 43, seems to have little ambition to reunite with Harry, a royal expert believes that he will be more open to getting to know Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
This was revealed by former royal butler Grant Harrold, who worked for King Charles between 2004 and 2011, when he was asked whether Archie and Lilibet could grow closer to their royal relatives if they attend university in the UK when they are older.
Speaking to online learning platform Study Dog, Harrold said: "The one thing about William and Catherine, they won't treat Meghan and Harry's children any differently because of what the parents are going through.
"So if they (Archie and Lilibet) want to come over here and live over here and attend university, they'll (William and Kate) probably embrace that as well.
"They'll be happy if they come over and spend some time here. It will give them an opportunity to spend time with them."
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children last visited the UK in 2022. While Harry frequently visits his home country to carry out charitable work, he rarely brings Meghan, 44, or the children with him. This is believed to be as a result of safety concerns for his family.
However, in an interview following his most recent UK visit last month, Harry did suggest his children may return to the UK soon.
When asked whether he would bring them to the UK in an interview with The Guardian in September, Harry said: "I would. This week has definitely brought that closer."
It is believed his comment referred to the fact he had reunited with his father King Charles that same week after not seeing each other face-to-face since February 2024.
