Manchester United reportedly are shifting their transfer strategy, offering several of their academy players to other clubs. The Red Devils have compiled a list of their young talents, all aged 18 or above, and given teams the chance to sign these players.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United are reportedly willing to essentially give away these players for nominal fees, but with high sell-on clauses included in the deals. This news has reportedly come as a surprise to some families and representatives, but United insist that the players have been consulted.
Clubs have reportedly been taken aback by the names on offer, particularly given that many of these players were brought to Old Trafford for substantial transfer fees.
This move is part of United's efforts to change their approach to comply with Profit and Sustainability rules. The club is trying a new tactic to generate transfer fees from players they do not believe will make it to the first team.
United also maintain that it is 'standard practice' to make decisions about the futures of their academy players at 18, and that players are fully within their rights to reject any proposed moves.

Significant changes are underway at the club's academy, with some suggesting that a desire to reduce costs around the club has influenced decisions in the set-up.
United's esteemed academy has welcomed a familiar face, Darren Fletcher, into a new role. The former Scotland international has taken the reins as coach of the under-18s side, marking his fifth distinct position within the club.
Fletcher's journey at United has seen him coach the under-16s, a role he assumed upon his return in October 2020, as well as stints as a first-team coach and technical director during his second tenure.
"I am really excited to take on this new role and increase my responsibility to directly develop our young players," Fletcher expressed. "I'm looking forward to working with such a talented age-group; supporting them to reach their potential and preparing them to enjoy careers at the highest level possible."
Jason Wilcox, United's director of football, added: "We are delighted that Darren will lead our Under-18s group. He knows exactly what it takes to be a successful Academy graduate and has played a key role in shaping the pathway for so many of our young players in recent years."
