Psychology and ADHD experts have detailed how neurodivergent traits could help players win The Celebrity Traitors. It comes after contestant Cat Burns, who is a Traitor in the series alongside Alan Carr and Jonathan Ross, revealed her ADHD diagnosis before participating in the BBC show hosted by Claudia Winkleman.
The experts have claimed that ADHD traits can play out in a powerful way in high-pressure social settings. Clinical Psychologist Dr Emma Offord told us: "Many ADHDers bring intuitive pattern recognition, strong emotional attunement, and creative problem-solving that help them read the room and pivot quickly. But those same sensitivities can make it harder to manage overwhelm or mask emotional reactions under pressure.
"It's a reminder that the ADHD brain isn't simply impulsive or distracted, it's deeply responsive to the environment, which can be both a strength and a vulnerability in games built on trust and deception."
Meanwhile, the neurodivergent founder of focus supplement brand Get Dopa, Matt Buff, said: "People with ADHD often display exceptional creativity and the ability to think outside conventional patterns. This trait allows them to create unexpected strategies that other contestants might not anticipate."
Matt added that the hyperfocus ability many with ADHD have could prove particularly valuable during intense round table discussions.
"ADHD traits exist on a spectrum and affect individuals differently," Matt said. "What might hinder one player could become another's secret weapon in a game requiring both strategic thinking and social perception."
Matt suggests that the success of neurodivergent players challenges outdated perceptions about ADHD being a disorder rather than a different cognitive style.
Cat has not been exposed as a Traitor just yet, but the walls could be closing in around her as some stars appear suspicious of her. Could she make it through to the final - or will the Faithfulls oust her?
The Celebrity Traitors continues tonight on BBC One at 9pm.
