“Removed at Midnight”: Rinku Ghosh Reveals the Harsh Reality of Bhojpuri Film Industry

Actress Rinku Ghosh, a well-known face in Bhojpuri cinema, has exposed a troubling truth about the industry in a candid interview. Ghosh, who has starred in several superhit films alongside stars like Manoj Tiwari and Ravi Kishan, revealed how female actors are often removed from projects overnight—without warning—due to favoritism and male dominance in casting decisions.

In an interview on the YouTube channel Ka Haal Ba, hosted by actor Manmohan Tiwari, Rinku opened up about being suddenly dropped from the 2005 film Dharti Putra. She shared, “At 12 in the night, I was informed that I was no longer part of the film—even though I had a flight scheduled for the shoot the next morning.” When she questioned the reason, she was told the hero, Manoj Tiwari, wanted a new actress instead.

Despite delivering a blockbuster with him in Daroga Babu I Love You, Rinku was replaced. “I told him people would want to see us together again, but he had refused to work with me. When I confronted him later, he admitted it was his mistake,” she added.

Highlighting the bigger issue, Rinku said such favoritism isn't unique to Bhojpuri cinema—it reflects a deeper industry-wide problem. “Big actors often demand to work only with specific heroines. Even if a producer wants someone else, they fear upsetting the star, which could impact future films,” she explained.

Her revelations shed light on the challenges women face behind the glitz of regional cinema, where influence often outweighs merit.
