Linda Yaccarino resigns as CEO of X, thanks Elon Musk and points to new era with xAI. She had stepped down to take over the advertising business in June 2023.
Washington: Linda Yaccarino has resigned as CEO of social media platform X (formerly Twitter) after leading it for nearly two years. She announced her decision in a post on July 9, 2025, expressing gratitude to Elon Musk and also indicating that the company is now entering a new phase with its artificial intelligence venture, xAI.
Yaccarino took charge of X in June 2023 at a time when the company was going through major changes. He was specifically appointed to stabilize the platform's advertising business and win back the trust of advertisers.

When @elonmusk and I first spoke of his vision for X, I knew it would be the opportunity of a lifetime to carry out the extraordinary mission of this company. I’m immensely grateful to him for entrusting me…
Yaccarino posted the announcement
Linda Yaccarino herself informed about her resignation through a post on X. She wrote, "I have decided to step down as CEO of X. Working with Elon Musk has been the biggest opportunity of my life." Praising her team, she said, "Together we faced the challenges and brought the company out of difficult situations and made a strong comeback." Yaccarino also said that her team not only worked hard to make the platform safe, but also played an important role in winning back the trust of advertisers.
You can work in this company
Linda's resignation is being considered an important step for Elon Musk . According to sources, Musk wants Yaccarino to now work with his other company X (AI). He plans to appoint her as the new CEO of X (AI). X (AI) has recently launched its chatbot ' Grok ', and Musk intends to develop X as a multi-functional 'everything app' instead of limiting it to just a social media platform.
Who will be the new CEO of X?
At present, there is no information about who will replace Linda. The company has not yet issued any official statement on this subject. Musk was already focusing on product design and technology, but now it seems that he is once again preparing to take responsibility for business operations himself.
