Two new and major Manchester United takeover claims have been made after Turki Al-Sheikh fuelled talk of a consortium buying the club. Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos acquired a minority stake in the club in early 2024, there have not been too many further updates about a potential takeover or outside investment from elsewhere.
Protests against the Glazer family, who are the majority owners of United, have taken place over the last two decades but it certainly looks as though they have no plans to complete an outright sale unless an offer exceeding a sensational £5 billion arrives.
Talk around Ruben Amorim's future has been the dominant topic on United with Ratcliffe addressing exactly that on on The Business podcast, produced by The Times and The Sunday Times, where he stated the club sacking Amorim if the Glazer's asked him to "would not happen". He also spoke more directly about the Glazers in that interview.

"That probably sums it up," Ratcliffe added. "We're local and they're the other side of the pond. "That's a long way away to try and manage a football club as big and complex as Manchester United.
"We're here with feet on the ground. They [the Glazers] get a bad rap... but they are really nice people and they are really passionate about the club."
Turki Al-Sheikh's comments on social media have furthered rumours over a possible takeover with another message issued on X.
In reference to his previous claims about an investor being close to striking a deal to buy United, he clarified: "My yesterday’s post about Manchester United's potential sale meant one thing: the club is in an advanced negotiation phase with a new investor.
"Just to clarify, I am not the investor, nor are they from my nation. I'm posting this as a fan who wishes the deal to happen, though it might not necessarily happen."
Though Alalshikh has made it clear that he is not involved in the process, talkSPORThave revealed that the group he is referring to is believed to be UAE-based.
It has also been claimed that a number of club legends have been 'approached' about possibly investing into the club.
Ratcliffe appears to have little control in potential takeover matters with investors free to go directly to the Glazer family.
