Manchester United have triggered Matheus Cunha's £62.5million release clause with the star now set for a medical. The Red Devils failed with an audacious opening offer, but have agreed to the terms set out by the Midlands side.
Personal terms had already been agreed and the Brazilian is now closing in on a move to Old Trafford. Cunha starred in Wolves' successful battle to beat the drop this season.
He scored 17 goals and add six assists to earn Wolves' Players' Player of the Season award. United have long been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, with boss Ruben Amorim desperate to boost his attacking options.
The Red Devils registered the fifth-lowest amount of goals in the this term. Amorim has selected Cunha as one of two key deals he wants to get done, with Ipswich's Liam Delap being the other.
United appear to be keen to move quickly to secure the Wolves man. But they were made to work after seeing an audacious opening offer roundly rejected.

According to , United requested to pay Cunha's release clause over five years rather than the required two. Wolves resisted that approach though and stood firm, formally rejecting that opening offer.
After that rejection, United decided to meet the terms, with an expectation on all sides that an agreement is close. And Cunha himself also appears certain that a deal will be reached between the two clubs.
"Talking about him is easy, I think he's a great coach and I wish him nothing but the best," Cunha told CNN Brasil via "I hope he conquers the as he did Portugal," asked if they could do that together, he added: "Well, God willing, we'll always do our best to help."

Amorim is keen to bring in a new No.10 to play behind the striker in his 3-4-2-1 system. According to the , the release clause in Cunha's contract is required to be paid in full after the 2026/27 season.
United boss Amorim has warned that his club may struggle to complete deals this summer due to their financial situation. He said: "We have a plan that is to bring [in] some new players.
"Our big plan is to improve the team we have and improve the academy as that is our future, as it was in past. It’s not going to change so much. We have financial fair play rules, so we are not allowed to do so much this summer.
“The important thing is to stick together. We are going to struggle and it is not going to be everything right away. I have a feeling the team is improving and that is the most important thing.”
