Mumbai: In a swift operation, the Pantnagar Police in Mumbai apprehended a man accused of brutally murdering his wife in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and handed him over to the Gujarat Police within an hour of receiving the alert.
According to officials from Narol Police Station in Ahmedabad, a case was registered on May 20 at 5:50 PM under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 135(1) of the Gujarat Police Act. The accused, identified as Anil alias Bobby Jangam (28), a resident of Sathe Nagar, Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, Ghatkopar East, Mumbai, allegedly murdered his wife Reena Rajendra Verma at their residence in Ahmedabad and fled the scene.
Upon tracing the accused’s mobile phone location, the Gujarat Police discovered that he had returned to Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar in Mumbai. Acting on an official request from senior officers in Ahmedabad and the Narol Police, Pantnagar Police swiftly formed a team under the guidance of senior officials and apprehended the absconding accused. He was then handed over to the Gujarat Police team that had arrived in Mumbai for the arrest.
Investigations revealed that both the accused and the deceased, who originally resided in Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar since 2017, had moved to Ahmedabad for work. On the morning of May 20, 2025, prior to 9:58 AM, Anil Jangam allegedly killed his wife Reena Verma over suspicions related to her character. The prompt coordination between the Pantnagar and Narol Police has been lauded, and further investigation is being carried out by the Gujarat Police.
