DAVV Visiting Faculty, 2 Others Named In Woman's Suicide Note In Indore

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 45-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence under Annapurna police station limits in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

She left behind a suicide note blaming a visiting faculty of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) along with a teacher couple for her death. Her husband said that although he knew all three persons, he was unaware of how they were troubling his wife.

Annapurna police station in-charge Ajay Nair said, “The deceased has been identified as Kavita Sen, a resident of Alankar Palace Colony. Her suicide note mentions three people — Vipin Sharma, Shakti Shrivastava and Shivam Shrivastava as being responsible for her death.

Shakti was her friend, while Shivam is Shakti’s husband. But the note does not explain why they were responsible for her drastic step or how they had harassed her.”

Her husband, who works as a medical representative (MR), said they along with their two daughters had dinner together around 10:30 pm and went to bed thereafter. In the morning, their elder daughter woke up and noticed that her mother was not in the bedroom.

She went upstairs and to her utter shock found her mother hanging. The family brought her down and informed the police. A suicide note was found nearby and was seized by the police.

Suicide note

In the note, she named DAVV visiting faculty member along with two others as the reason for her extreme decision. She wrote: “I, Kavita, wife of Vikram Sen, am committing suicide. I am fed up with my life. Vikram Sen, please forgive me. My children, please forgive me. The ones responsible for my death are these three people — Vipin Sharma, Shivam Shrivastava and Shakti Shrivastava. They have harassed me relentlessly. They are responsible for my death. Never forgive them. They tortured me day and night. They will try to escape by lying.”

Studied yoga course at DAVV three years ago

Vipin Sharma is a visiting faculty member at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, while Shakti is a private tutor, and her husband Shivam works in a government department.

Kavita’s husband informed the police that although he knew all three persons, Kavita never spoke about any harassment by them. She had enrolled in a yoga course at DAVV three years ago and had been staying at home since then. Around a year ago, she began experiencing mental health issues, and her treatment was ongoing.

Vipin Sharma is the son of SS Sharma, the HOD of School of Yoga, DAVV. Vipin said, “I am surprised why my name was mentioned by her in suicide note because I have nothing to do with her fatal step.”

BBA student ends life due to illness

In another incident, a 22-year-old second-year BBA student from DAVV committed suicide by hanging herself at her place under Dwarkapuri police station limits on Saturday night. A suicide note was found during an autopsy examination in her garments in which she mentioned about being troubled by illness and apologised to her parents. She held herself responsible for her drastic step.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Aarti, daughter of Suresh, a resident of Vidur Nagar.  She had undergone abdominal surgery some time ago.
