Upset over his girlfriend ending their relationship and seeing another man, a 26-year-old salesman, along with his brother and friends, allegedly stabbed his romantic rival near Jataka Stand in Palace Guttahalli on August 15.
The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Chandan Gowda, an unemployed resident of Vijayanagar. Police arrested the accused salesman, Yatish (26), and his brother Harsha (23) on Sunday on charges of attempted murder, while the involvement of others is still under investigation.
Chandan, who stays with his parents on Nagappa Street in Vyalikaval, had been in a relationship with the woman for the past three months. She reportedly broke up with Yatish due to certain differences. However, Yatish, unwilling to accept the separation, was attempting to reconcile with her.
On August 15, Chandan informed his relative Prajwal that he was going to meet Yatish. Later that night, around 9:35 p.m., he called Prajwal again and said he had been stabbed.
Prajwal immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital with stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. He was later shifted to Victoria Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is currently recovering.
