Air India and Icelandair sign codeshare deal for faster connectivity

To improve connectivity between India and Iceland, Air India and Icelandair have signed a new codeshare agreement, according to the official statement by Air India’s CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson. The codeshare agreement was shared during the 81st Annual General Meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) held in New Delhi.

The agreement will allow passengers to travel more easily across 15 routes in India and Europe. Air India customers can now book flights to Iceland's capital, Reykjavik, using Icelandair services via major European hubs. These hubs include London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Milan, and Zurich. These flights will carry Air India’s ‘AI’ flight code.

In return, Icelandair customers will gain access to Air India-operated flights to Indian cities. These include connections from Delhi to Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, and London Heathrow, as well as from Mumbai to Frankfurt and London Heathrow. These flights will display Icelandair’s ‘FI’ flight code.

Icelandair President and CEO Bogi Nils Bogason also participated in the announcement. Both airline heads expressed confidence that the partnership would support growing travel and trade between the two nations.
