Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 20 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Ayodhya's grand Deepotsav celebration for setting two Guinness World Records by lighting over 26 lakh oil lamps and hosting the largest-ever Saryu Aarti.
In a post on X, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said that the event of lighting 26 lakh oil lamps' entry into the Guinness World Records has reignited the eternal radiance of Sanatan culture.
"In the 'Ramamaya' Shri Ayodhya Dham today, the shimmering light of 2,617,215 lamps has created a world record, reigniting the eternal radiance of Sanatan culture," wrote UP CM.
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh praised Deepotsav as a festival of devotion, penance, and resolve. Further, he also described the Saryu Aarti as the illumination of India's soul.
'"Deepotsav-2025' is that festival of devotion, penance, and resolve, where 2,128 Vedic scholars, priests, and practitioners together performed the aarti of Mother Saryu, establishing an unparalleled milestone in religion and culture. Through the collective efforts of revered saints, religious scholars, and countless devotees of Lord Ram, this manifested scene is the illumination of India's soul. Today, the entire world is saying in one voice... Jai Jai Siya Ram!" added CM Yogi.
Meanwhile, Ayodhya entered the Guinness World Records by lighting over 26 lakh oil lamps and hosting the largest-ever Saryu aarti, organised by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department in collaboration with the Ayodhya District Administration.
In the largest display of oil lamps, 2,617,215 diyas were lit along the banks of the Saryu River. During the event, many participants engaged in a simultaneous 'diya' rotation.
According to officials, over 30,000 volunteers from universities, colleges, and various other departments took part in the diya-lighting and rotational activities.
These diyas were arranged in a precise pattern to ensure accurate counting and verification by representatives from Guinness World Records. In the Saryu Aarti, 2,128 devotees performed the aarti on the evening of October 17.
On the UP Govt making two new Guinness World Records during Deepotsav, Guinness World Records adjudicator Richard Stenning told ANI, "Today we have witnessed an amazing display. 26,17,215 oil lamps, it is officially a Guinness World Record. Every year, this is getting more and more. It is an honour to be here... It is a truly spectacular thing. It is incredible..." (ANI)
