Cristhian Mosquera is closing in on a move to Arsenal as the club's summer transfer plans continue to develop.

The Gunners have been busy in the transfer market so far this summer and are showing no signs of slowing down with two more deals in the works.

As well as Mosquera, Arsenal are also working on a deal to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres. The Gunners have already added Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga to their squad and could have more new faces in the days ahead.

Mosquera has been identified as a target for Arsenal this summer as they look to bring the defender to the Emirates Stadium.

football.london understands that a deal has been agreed with Valencia for the Spain Under-21 international, with suggestions that the fee will be around £15million.

With Arsenal looking to finalise the transfer to bring Mosquera to North London, an update has emerged about the defender.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Mosquera had the opportunity to join another club before agreeing to join Arsenal.

It has been reported that the centre-back had interest from an unnamed club in Serie A, but rejected the move in favour of securing a deal with the Gunners, with the club always being his first choice.

Arsenal will hope to confirm the signing of Mosquera some time this week with a view to the defender being their fourth or fifth new arrival of the summer, depending on if the announcement is made after or before a deal for Gyokeres.

As a result, the Gunners will hope to have Mosquera as part of their squad when they travel to Singapore for their pre-season tour on Saturday.

Arsenal's first friendly of the summer will be on July 23 against AC Milan, where they will be hoping to have Mosquera available for selection.

Mosquera gave a short interview to Spanish media from inside his car on Monday. "It [Valencia] will always be [my home]," he told the radio station

" rel="Follow" target="_self">Radio Marca Valencia.. "I arrived here at the age of 12, and well, I’m leaving now as a man.

"I’m a little bit sad because I’ve been here all my life but this is football. It’s a new chapter and let’s continue." He added: "It’s exciting but I leave here feeling sad."
