There has been an update on Chelsea's latest plans for the summer transfer window as they prepare for the start of the new season.

The Blues go into the new Premier League campaign as the FIFA Club World Cup champions.

Thanks to their involvement in the tournament, Chelsea will not return to pre-season duties until early next month when they host Bayer Leverkusen at Stamford Bridge.

Away from the action on the pitch, Chelsea look set to have a very busy summer transfer window this year. Enzo Maresca has already added Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens to his side's squad this summer and will also welcome Estevao Willian for the start of the new campaign.

With just a few weeks remaining of the summer transfer window, a fresh update has emerged for Chelsea's plans ahead of the September 1 deadline.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea are working on two transfers at this moment in time. It has been reported that the Blues are looking to complete deals for Xavi Simons and Jorrel Hato.

Chelsea have expressed an interest in signing both Simons and Hato, with football.london understanding that the Blues have already advanced in talks for both players.

Personal terms for both Simons and Hato are not thought to be a problem for Chelsea, with the duo understood to be keen to sign for the world champions this summer.

The update from Romano also included a claim that Chelsea are not looking to sign Alexander Isak this summer.

The Newcastle United striker is widely reported to have expressed a desire to leave St James' Park, with the Blues mentioned as a potential destination.

Chelsea have already been busy in the transfer market to strengthen their centre forward options.

Pedro and Delap were signed before the conclusion of the Club World Cup, with both players set to compete for a starting role with the Blues next term.
